NOT AGAIN: The KIKUYU told to vacate Rift Valley as hate leaflets spread in Nandi.

Wednesday May 28, 2014 – Members of the Kikuyu community have been urged to vacate Nandi County before something big happens to them.

According to Nandi County Commissioner, Matilda Sakwa, the hate messages were   conveyed through leaflets that were dropped in strategic places in Tinderet Constituency on Monday.

The leaflets, written in Kiswahili, warn the Kikuyu to vacate within a week or else their property would be looted.

“Please, leave within one week with your children or else you lose everything.” The leaflets warned.

The leaflets also accused the Kikuyu community of receiving Sh400, 000 for internally displaced persons while the host community was left out.

The County Commissioner said investigations were underway to establish those behind the hate messages.

The County Commissioner also assured the Kikuyu community that the Government would not allow any person to cause tension among residents who had lived harmoniously for many years.

One suspect was arrested and the other fled to Mombasa after realizing detectives were after him.
